Women's Tennis Fall Season Recap

PHILADELPHIA - With action at three impressive tournaments in the fall season, Temple women's tennis geared up for long spring season ahead with a strong showing across the board. The Owls finished their season with overall records of 12-14 in singles and 11-20 in doubles.
- Women's tennis saw action at the Princeton Invitational, Cissie Leary Invitational and the ITA Regional Championships.
- Temple women's tennis had several standouts in singles matches. Newcomer Cecilia Castelli posted a 3-2 record for the fall season, winning all three of her matches at the Cissie Leary Invitational in the consolation bracket.
- Yana Khon posted a 2-2 record in singles play. One of Khon's most notable wins for the fall season was a 7-5, 6-4 defeat over Cecily Wuenscher of William & Mary in the round of 32 at the Cissie Leary Invitational.
- Galina Chernykh posted a 2-2 record in her singles play. Both of Chernykh's wins came at the Princeton Invitational against Marika Cusick of Cornell University and Caroline Joyce of Princeton University.
- Anais Nussaume also posted a 2-2 record in singles play. Nussaume advanced to the Semifinals round at the Cissie Leary Invitational where she topped Annie Jaskulski from the University of Delaware.
- Alina Abdurakhimova loged a 2-2 record in singles matches. Abdurakhimova's two victories came at the Princeton Invitational against Priyanka Shah of Cornell University and Catalina Vives of Princeton University.
- The tandem of Galina Chernykh/ Dina Karina posted a doubles record of 2-0. They locked in two victories at the Princeton Invitational.
- Galina Chernykh/Yana Khon had a strong win at the Cissie Leary Invitational in the Round of 16 where they topped Ashby Bland/Vivian Cheng from Columbia University 6-1.
- The Galina Chernykh/ Alina Abdurakhimova duo loged a standout victory at the Princeton Invitational against the Princeton University pair of Sara Goodwin/Caroline Joyce.
- Women's tennis will begin their spring season on January 14, 2017 against ODU in Norfolk, Va.
