Lacrosse Hosts City Rival La Salle on Wednesday Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA - After hanging with a nationally ranked Louisville team in its 2016 season opener, Temple lacrosse looks to get its first win when the Owl host city rival La Salle on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. Fans unable to attend can watch a free live stream of the game HERE.
The Owls (0-1) will play a total of 12 home contests this season, including their first three straight. They opened with #16 Louisville last Friday, losing 8-5 after outscoring the Cardinals 4-3 in the second half. Senior Rachel Schwaab scored twice for Temple, while junior Morgan Glassford recorded a goal and an assist. Also scoring for the Owls were senior Nicole Tiernan and junior Anna Frederick.
Temple is coming off a 10-6 season that saw the Owls record their best start in 18 years, going 8-1 capped by a win at #19 Delaware. Temple struggled in conference play, going 2-5 and finishing sixth of eight teams. The Owls have again been picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST in 2016. Temple will not begin conference play until Saturday, April 2 at #8 Florida.
La Salle is opening its season at Temple on Wednesday. The Explorers are coming off an 8-8 season that saw them go 4-4 in the Atlantic 10 and finish in fifth place, falling one spot short of earning a spot in the A-10 Championship. La Salle returns two of its top three goal-scorers in senior Katelyn Fay who led the team with 40 goals and 45 points last season and junior Allee Ilgenfritz who finished third in goals at 30 while adding 11 assists on the year.Â
The Owls lead the all-time series against La Salle 13-4, and won last year's meeting 9-7 on the Explorers' home field.
