Morgan Glassford Named to BIG EAST Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK - After a 2-0 week for Temple lacrosse, junior Morgan Glassford has been honored with a mention on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The Owls stifled their two opponents last week, winning 13-2 against La Salle before going on to win 17-4 against UC Davis.

Glassford was a key factor in both wins, totaling four goals and 11 draw controls. She scored a pair of goals in each contest while winning five draw controls against the Explorers and six versus the Aggies. For the season, Glassford's five goals are tied for the team lead.

Temple is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 27 in a 5 p.m. game at Lafayette.

BIG EAST Attacker Of The Week 
Katherine Finkelston, Connecticut, Sr., A
Finkelston had the hot hand in a 2-0 week for the Huskies, totaling 10 goals and two assists for 12 points in victories over Quinnipiac and RV/20 James Madison. Against the Bobcats, the senior totaled six goals off eight shots, adding a pair of assists as well. Against the nationally ranked Dukes, Finkelston totaled four goals on eight shots while adding a caused turnover and ground ball.
 
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week 
Mollie Stevens, Florida, Jr., M
Stevens repeats as the top midfielder of the week following a hat trick at No. 2 North Carolina on Saturday, with each of her goals coming at crucial points. Trailing by three midway through the first half, Stevens made the deficit 6-4 at the 12:03 mark and then 8-6 four minutes later. She gave the Gators their second lead of the game, 10-9, with 25:14 remaining in regulation. Stevens added four draw controls and a ground ball as Florida upset the 2015 national runner-up Tar Heels.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week 
Shannon Nee, Connecticut, Sr., GK
Nee was in the cage for both UConn wins last week, beginning Wednesday with a clean sheet versus Quinnipiac. The senior stopped all three shots faced to keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard. In the Huskies' win over RV/20 James Madison on Sunday, Nee stopped 12 shots in 60 minutes of action to preserve UConn's upset win, 12-10.
 
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week  
Sydney Pirreca, Florida, Fr., M/D
At No. 2 North Carolina on Saturday, Pirreca totaled a career-high five goals to push Florida to the upset victory in Chapel Hill. The five scores match the single-game high for the Gators this season, with her five scores coming off six shots.  Pirreca added a pair of ground balls as well. She was tabbed the National Rookie of the Week by Inside Lacrosse.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Megan Bell, Cincinnati, R-Sr., A
The Bearcats opened the season 1-1 with Bell powering the offense. The redshirt senior totaled eight points off six goals and two assists, while adding seven ground balls and 12 draw controls. In Sunday's win over Presbyterian, Bell scored four goals and dished two assists while netting five ground balls and six draw controls.
Jackie Froccaro, Villanova, Grad., A
Froccaro helped spark the rally which came up just shy at Cornell on Saturday by scoring three goals and dishing an assist. All four of Froccaro's points came in the second half, bouncing back from a 4-1 halftime deficit to fall 7-6.
