PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's tennis team picked up another win on Saturday as they defeated Marist, 7-0
The Owls got off the quick start by sweeping the doubles point. Mariana Bedon and Minami Okajima picked up a 6-0 win at the third flight over Melissa Carlay and Lisa Ventimiglia. Yana Khon and Anais Nussaume took down Karlene Pang and Chloe Lant, 6-1 at the first flight to clinch the point. Alina Abdurakhimova and Dina Karina also took a victory at the second flight, defeating Claire Schmitz and Caroline Lozo, 6-3.
In singles, Temple continued their momentum as they won all seven flights. Karina took down Ariel Shulman, 6-1, 6-2 at the fourth flight. Okajima defeated Schmitz at the fifth flight, 6-2, 6-1, while Abdurakhimova topped Pang, 6-0, 6-4 at the first flight. Temple also picked up wins from Bedon at the sixth flight, Khon at second flight, and Nussaume at the third flight.
"The women played a strong match in both singles and doubles today," said head coach Steve Mauro. "Everyone has been working extremely hard in practices so it was really great to get this win today."
The Owls move to 7-4 on the season and will head out on the road on March 20 to face Delaware.
