Temple Earns Top 20 National Ranking in Lacrosse Magazine Poll

3.15.16 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA - In the midst of its longest win streak in 14 years, Temple lacrosse has earned a #20 national ranking in the latest Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division I Women's Top 20 Poll. The Owls lost a close game to #16 Louisville to start the season, but have since won seven straight to stand at 7-1 overall.

Temple is also receiving votes in another poll, the Inside Lacrosse Division I Women's Media Top 20. The Owls' seven-game win streak is the longest for the program since 2002, when Temple won eight straight including the title game in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Five of the Owls' seven wins have been by 10 or more goals, and they have out-scored those seven opponents by a whopping 69 goals.

The Owls are making a name for themselves in the national stats this season as well. As a team, Temple is fourth in scoring defense, allowing just 6.13 goals per game, and fifth in the nation with a scoring margin of 8.25.  The Owls' offense is seventh nationally with 14.38 goals per game, and eighth in the nation with 20.25 points per game.

Individually, senior goalkeeper Jaqi Kakalecik ranks third in the nation with a goals-against average of 6.13, having played every minute in the cage for the Owls. Senior Rachel Schwaab is 10th among all players in the nation with 31 total points, while junior Morgan Glassford is eighth with 5.50 draw controls per game.

Temple will face a challenging region rival in its next game, as the Owls host Delaware (7-1) on Wednesday, March 16 at 3 p.m.
