3.29.16 | Women's Lacrosse
NEW YORK - For a second time this season, Temple senior goalkeeper Jaqi Kakalecik has been named the BIG EAST Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. In addition to Kakalecik's two weekly honors, the 8-2 Owls have earned honor roll mention a total of five times.
In 60 minutes in the cage against Cal in Temple's only game of last week on March 26, Kakalecik made nine saves and surrendered just three goals as the Owls scored an 18-3 victory. Her .750 save percentage against the Bears bumped her season average to .519 to rank second in the BIG EAST (ninth in the nation), while her goals against average dropped to 6.20 on the year, best in the conference and fifth among all players in NCAA Division I. Kakalecik has been credited with all eight of Temple's non-conference wins, playing all 600 minutes thus far.
Temple begins conference play this weekend, heading to #2 Florida for a noon contest on Saturday, April 2.
