Jaylen Bond Named Big 5 Co-Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior forward Jaylen Bond was named Philadelphia Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for the week ending March 6.  Bond shares the honor with Villanova junior forward Kris Jenkins.

The Owls' captain posted a pair of double-doubles to lead his team to a 2-0 week that helped Temple clinch the outright American Athletic Conference regular season title and top seed in the league tournament. Philadelphia native had team-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-62 win versus Memphis (3/3) and followed that with 10 points and a season-high 16 boards in a victory at Tulane (3/6).

Bond leads the Temple and is sixth in the conference in rebounding with an 8.3 average. He ranks third on the team in scoring at 9.7 ppg.

Temple (20-10, 14-4 American) opens play in the American Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday (Noon/ESPN2/1210 AM WPHT) against the winner of the game between #8-seed East Carolina and #9-seed USF.
