Lacrosse Heads to Marquette on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - Temple lacrosse has two conference road games up next on its schedule, starting with a 2:35 p.m. (ET) contest at Marquette (4-9, 1-2) on Saturday, April 16. The Owls (9-4, 1-2) have just one BIG EAST win so far, but have played strong against both #2 Florida and UConn, the two teams picked to finish first and second in the league.
Saturday's game is being televised locally in Milwaukee by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, and will not have a live online stream available. Fans can follow live stats and Twitter to keep up with all the action.

• Seniors Rachel Schwaab and Megan Tiernan have combined for an impressive 71 total points this season, leading the way for the Owls' offense. Schwaab has tallied 24 goals and 14 assists, while Tiernan has 22 goals and 11 assists.
• Temple and Kakalecik have held opponents to just 6.42 goals per game, ranking third among all teams in NCAA Division I. The Owls' 12.38 goals per game rank 23rd in the nation, while their scoring margin of 5.92 ranks eighth.
• Tiernan has notched five hat tricks already this season, while Schwaab has three. Senior Kirstie Connor ranks third on the team with 18 goals after recording a hat trick against Florida and another goal vs. Vanderbilt. • Senior midfielder Nicole Tiernan was a unanimous selection to the 2016 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. The Owls were picked to finish sixth of eight teams in the conference in the preseason poll.
• The Owls are looking to make their first appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament since joining the league as an associate member in 2014. The four-team tournament will be hosted by Georgetown in Washington, D.C. on May 5 and 7.

Hanging With the Best
Temple's results against top teams this season have been a stark contrast to the Owls' scores against the same top teams a year ago. After losing by 14 goals to nationally ranked Florida in 2015, Temple nearly pulled off the upset a couple weeks ago before falling by just a single goal, 10-9 in Gainesville on April 2. The Owls didn't fare much better against UConn last season, losing 18-6. This year, Temple took the Huskies to overtime before falling 9-8 on April 13.Â

Temple has defeated six opponents this season by 10 or more goals, the Owls' most double-digit victories in 14 years. No Temple team had more than two double-digit wins in a season since 2004, and the last time a team had more than six was when the 2002 Owls took down seven opponents by 10 or more goals.
Dominant Senior Class
The Owls' success this season is thanks in large part to a talented, veteran and huge senior class. Temple boasts 13 seniors on its roster of 31, with 11 of those being consistent figures in the starting lineup.
