Temple's Kakalecik and Schwaab to Play in IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Temple lacrosse graduated seniors Jaqi Kakalecik and Rachel Schwaab have both been selected to play in the 2016 North/South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, June 4. The BIG EAST Conference has a total of nine representatives, with student-athletes from Georgetown, Marquette, UConn and Villanova also competing.
The Senior All-Star games for Divisions I, II, and III will all take place at Cabrini College, and the Division I game will start the day's action at 11:30 a.m. Admission for all three games is free of charge.
Playing every minute in goal for Temple this season, Kakalecik finished the year ranked eighth among all NCAA Division I goalkeepers with a goals-against average of 7.08. That average also ranks eighth all-time in a single season at Temple, while her career goals-against average of 9.03 ranks sixth all-time. With 317 career saves, Kakalecik ranks ninth all-time in program history. She racked up the honors in her senior season, being named to the IWLCA All-Region Second Team and the BIG EAST Second Team after earning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors three times.Â
Schwaab, also named to the BIG EAST Second Team, led Owls with 31 goals in 2016, while adding 21 assists for a team-best 52 total points. She scored multiple goals in 10 games including three hat tricks, and scored four goals in back-to-back wins against UMBC and Rutgers in early March. Her 2.74 points per game ranked in a tie for fifth in the BIG EAST.
Kakalecik and Schwaab, who will play for the South Team in the All-Star Game, are Temple's first representatives in the North/South Senior All-Star Game since Charlotte Swavola and Stephany Parcell played for the South Team in 2013.
