PHILADELPHIA – Athlon Sports has unveiled its 2016 Preseason All-Conference teams and 11 Temple Owls have earned All-American Athletic Conference honors.

Houston, USF and Temple are considered the top three teams and favorites to win the American Athletic Conference in 2016, so it should be no surprise these programs dominate the projected all-conference team by Athlon Sports. The Cougars and the Bulls are tied with 14 selections on Athlon Sports' 2016 American Athletic all-conference team, with the Owls checking in at No. 3 with 11 selections.

Temple tied East Carolina and USF with a conference-leading two players on the first team offense. Senior RB Jahad Thomas and senior OL Dion Dawkins earned that distinction. Overall, five Owls earned offensive honors: redshirt-junior OL Brian Carter (third team), and redshirt-sophomore WR Ventell Bryant and redshirt-junior OL Leon Johnson (fourth team).

The Cherry & White were balanced placing two players on the first team defense and five players overall on that side of the ball. The two first-teamer were junior DB Sean Chandler and redshirt-senior DL Haason Reddick. Redshirt-senior DL Praise Martin-Oguike (second team), senior LB Jarred Alwan (third team) and sophomore DB Delvon Randall (fourth team) round out the defense.

Junior Austin Jones earned third team kicker honors giving Temple 11 players.
