Fernandez Set for NCAA Outdoor Championships

PHILADELPHIA – For the second year in a row, Blanca Fernandez is set to compete at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. The All-American will be racing in the women's 5,000-meter final on Saturday, June 11 at 5:25 p.m. PT (8:25 p.m. ET).
 
Fernandez has picked up late-season momentum beginning at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships where she earned two individual titles in the 1,500 and 5,000-meter races.
 
By hitting qualifying marks in the 5,000 meter race, Fernandez earned a trip to the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla. Her time of 16:09.84 placed third overall and set a new program record.
 
In 2015, Fernandez competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1,500-meter race where she placed 15th overall to earn second-team All-American honors.
 
Saturday's events will be broadcast live on ESPN beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
