Bonnie Rosen Named IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year
7.12.16 | Women's Lacrosse
GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Temple lacrosse head coach Bonnie Rosen has been honored by her peers in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), being named the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Rosen guided the Owls to a 13-6 record this past season, and to an appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament's championship game.
Rosen and her staff were honored by the conference in May as co-Coaching Staff of the Year along with league champion Florida. Rosen has earned three BIG EAST Coach of the Year honors in her career, including one at UConn, while the region honor this season is her first.
"This is a great honor," said Rosen, "but the credit truly goes to our whole staff and to our team. We had such a special season that I was so happy to be a part of, and it's very nice to be recognized."
Temple made its first-ever appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament since joining the league in 2013-14, and advanced to the title game with a 12-8 win against UConn in the semifinals. The Owls finished in a tie for third in the conference after being picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll. Temple's 13 overall wins were its most since the 2008 season, and the Owls won seven in a row early in the year. The program was honored with a record number of six all-conference selections in addition to the co-Coaching Staff of the Year honor.
Rosen, a member of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, just completed her 10th season with the Cherry and White.
