Lacrosse Earns BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award

8.4.16 | Women's Lacrosse

NEW YORK - The academic honors continue to pile up for Temple lacrosse, and the Owls have now earned more recognition from the BIG EAST Conference. The league has announced the 22 teams that have been recognized with 2015-16 Team Academic Excellence Awards for having the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport, and the Owls have earned that honor for a second year in a row.

The winners were chosen based on the 2015-16 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.

Within the past week, Temple was also named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for a 10th year in a row. Thirty members of the team earned All-BIG EAST Academic Team recognition, and 11 of those were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. The Owls' 11 recipients of that honor were the most of any of the 96 schools represented.

As a team, Temple lacrosse combined for a 3.51 GPA this past year to tie for department-high honors along with the women's soccer team.
