Men's Soccer Set to Host Fairfield on International Celebration Day

9.16.16 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA – Returning home after two dropped away matches, Temple men's soccer looks to get back on the winning trail against Fairfield on Saturday afternoon. The Owls are set to face off against the Stags at 2:00 p.m. at the Temple Sports Complex.

Saturday's match will also be an international celebration day for the Owls. Spectators are encouraged to wear any international jerseys for a chance to win prizes and honor international students and student-athletes.

The Owls enter the game coming off a close overtime loss at Drexel on Tuesday night. Despite two first-half goals from Jorge Gomez Sanchez, the Dragons were able to drive the pace of the game and knock in a game-winner during the 97th minute of play.

Both of Gomez Sanchez's goals were served up by Joonas Jokinen. The pair has now collectively contributed 21 of Temple's 33 total points on the season.

Also making strong efforts in the past two matches, Mark Grasela and George McGee have joined Gomez Sanchez on this week's American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll.

The Matchup…
The Owls are welcoming the Stags for the first ever matchup between the two teams.

Fairfield currently stands a 2-1-2 on their season and is coming off a 2-1 victory over Northeastern.

Last season, the Stags tallied a 6-6-6 record and garnered a 5-3-2 record in the MAAC.
