News & Notes Following Temple's 48-20 Win over Charlotte….

Temple won its eighth consecutive Homecoming game and 10th in the last 11 seasons. Matt Rhule is a perfect 4-0 in Homecoming games as head coach with a combined score of 165-68 in those four victories.

In the last two home games this season, Temple has outscored its opponents 86-20.

In the Charlotte game, each team held the ball for exactly 30 minutes.

Since his return to the lineup, senior RB Jahad Thomas has scored two rushing touchdowns in each game. As such he now has 24 career touchdowns and is tied for fourth on the school's all-time list. His 21 career rushing TDs is fifth in the TU record books. With another performance like the last two weeks, Thomas will be third on both lists behind only Bernard Pierce (54/53) and Paul Palmer (43/39).

The game saw two unlikely plays – senior LT Dion Dawkins converted a first down after picking up a fumble and running four yards. Redshirt senior TE Romond Deloatch was given snaps at defensive end and had the game's lone sack.

Temple had a season-high 26 first downs which were converted by 12 different players.

In the first game this season when Temple did not throw an interception, it recorded its first fumble of the year. The miscue, however, was recovered by Temple and the Owls played their first game without a turnover. They also did not allow a sack for the first time this season.

Redshirt sophomore Brodrick Yancy made the first start of his career and was Temple's leading receiver with a career-high tying four catches for 70 yards and a career-long 40-yard touchdown.

Freshman OL Matt Hennessy and redshirt sophomore LB Jared Folks each made their first career start at left guard and middle linebacker, respectively.

Temple scored points on 8-of-13 possessions in the game. With senior QB Phillip Walker leading the team through the first three quarters, Temple scored on 7 of 10 possessions, including 6 touchdowns. For the season, Walker has led the Owls to 21 scores on 44 drives (47.7%) with 15 touchdowns on those possessions (34.1%).

Known for forcing fumbles (he leads the nation among active FBS players), redshirt senior DL Praise Martin-Oguike recovered one in the second quarter that led to a Temple score, giving the Owls a 17-7 lead and changing the momentum of the game. Temple went on to score twice more in the next six-and-a-half minutes and entered halftime with a 31-7 lead.

Temple scored 28 points in the second quarter – the largest total since scoring 28 points in the second quarter vs. Delaware State on 9/20/14.

Redshirt sophomore DB Derrek Thomas led the team with a career-high six tackles (all solos).
