Men's Tennis Continues Play at Navy Invitational

Annapolis, MD- Temple men's tennis continued tournament play at the Navy Invitational. The Owls continued to play in the singles and doubles.
Artem Kapshuk defeated Chris Fletcher of George Washington in the semifinals 7-6(4) and 7-5. Artem suffered a tough lost to Julius Tverijonas of George Washington 6-4 and 7-5 in the championship of flight A.
In the consolation ladder, Uladzimir Dorash defeated Walker Sims of Navy 6-3, 6-3. Uladzimir Dorash faced Max Palmer of Bucknell in the next round and lost 6-4 and 6-4. Eric Biscoveanu was defeated by Jacob Nielsen of George Mason, 7-5 and 6-3. Florian Mayer defeated Christos Hadjiigeorgiou of George Washington 6-3 and 6-4. Florian Mayer also defeated Jacob Nielson in the next round of the consolation side 6-4 and 6-3 to finish 9th in Flight B.
In Flight C of the consolation ladder, Filip Stipcic lost to Bryan Adams of Bucknell 7-5 and 6-3.
In Flight D of the consolation ladder, Vineet Naran lost to Derek Hagino 6-4 of Mary Washington and 7-6(5).
In Flight E, of the consolation ladder, Steven Hollander lost to Nolan Perugini of Mary Washington 2-6, 6-3, and 6-3.
In the doubles matches, Florian Mayer and Uladzimir Dorash beat Blanco/Garcia of St. Bonaventure 6-3. Mayer/Dorash also defeated the tandem of Hughes/Boyd of George Washington 6-1 to win the consolation final in Flight A.
The tandem of Artem Kapshuk and Eric Biscoveanu defeated Casselbury/Lankes of Delaware 7-5 in the semifinals. Kapshuk/Biscoveanu defeated the tandem of Ramikrishnan/Labik of Morgan State 6-4 to win the championship of doubles in flight B. The Filip Stipcic and Vineet Naran pairing lost the mixed duo of Steven Hollander from Temple and Kane from Bucknell 6-2 in Flight C.
" It was a great weekend for the men's tennis team," head coach Steve Mauro comments. "I'm extremely happy with the way the guys played. I'm extremely delighted with Artem Kapshuk who lost in the championship of flight A. Also, I'm very impressed with the doubles tandem of Artem and Eric Biscoveanu who won the doubles championship in Flight B. This is a good warmup for the ITA All-American Tournament next week."
The Owls will be back in action at the ITA All-American which will take place from Oct. 1-10.
