1.24.17 | Women's Basketball, Feyonda Fitzgerald - All-America Candidate

ST. LOUIS -- Temple women's basketball senior Feyonda Fitzgerald joined an elite group of players on Tuesday, being named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association mid-season watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Year Award.

Already a two-time All-Conference selection, Fitzgerald is having her best season yet in cherry and white. The guard averages 18.4 points, 7.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game. Nationally, her assists per game number ranks her fifth in all of Division I, while her assist-to-turnover ratio (2.93) ranks her ninth. Earlier this season, Fitzgerald was named the ESPNW National Player of the Week, after leading the Owls to wins over #16/17 DePaul and Rutgers.

Temple's all-time leader in careers assists (538), Fitzgerald is shooting up the all-time scoring list and currently ranks fifth with 1,602 career points. She's led her Owls to two-straight 20-win seasons, with the current squad riding an 11-game win streak to a 15-3 overall record.

Balloting for the USBWA's Women's All-America Team and the association's individual awards will take place in March. The Ann Myers Drysdale Award, National Coach of the Year and the Freshman of the Year awards will be presented at a news conference in conjunction with the Women's Final Four in Dallas.
