PHILADELPHIA – In an afternoon of Philadelphia play, Temple men's tennis was unable to top cross-town rival Penn. Uladzimir Dorash logged a doubles and singles victory in the 6-1 fall.

Dorash and partner Artem Kapshuk grabbed an early win in the first doubles position, topping Quaker duo Marshall Sharp and Nicholai Westergaard 6-4. Following the win, the Owl pair of Thomas Sevel and Florian Mayer dropped 6-2 to Matt Nardella and Kyle Mautner. Vineet Naran and Eric Biscoveanu played in the third doubles position, falling to Josh Pompan and Thomas Spratt 6-2.

In singles play, Dorash pulled in a big win in the third position, topping Nardella 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. The sophomore followed two losses from Kapshuk who fell to Mautner 6-3, 6-4, and Sevel who faced Pompan. Sevel's match ended 6-4, 6-2 in favor of the Quaker junior.

Mayer, Biscoveanu and Naran completed the singles lineup in that respective order.

The Owls will return to the court early Friday, Feb. 3 for a dual against another local rival, Villanova. The match is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Legacy Tennis Center.
