PHILADELPHIA -- Temple senior guard Alliya Butts will miss the 2017-18 season after tearing her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in practice on Wednesday. Butts will have surgery in the next two weeks.

The Edgewater Park, N.J. native is a three-time All-Conference and All-Big 5 selection, and was the 2014-15 Big 5 Rookie of the Year. She holds the program career record for threes, and is seventh on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,481 points.

Butts has been a key piece of the Owls' success the last three years, including averaging 21.3 points per game during the 2016-17 postseason. She scored a season-best 28 points in Temple's first round NCAA game against Oregon last season, and has career highs of 30 points, seven assists, and seven steals.
