Men's Soccer Shut Out at UCF

Orlando, Fla. - In a pivotal match for both Temple men's soccer (8-7-1, 3-3) and UCF (6-5-2, 3-2-1), a lone second half goal from the Knights delivered the Owls a 1-0 loss. Despite several pressing opportunities, Temple was unable to get past UCF defense.
Keys to the Match
> The Owls and the Knights remained scoreless into the second half after a very defensive first 45 minutes.
> Temple contained UCf until the the 49th minute when Mattias Pyysalo scored his 11th goal of the season with help from Yoni Sorokin. Sorokin found Pyysalo off a steal and Pyysalo's shot beat sophomore Michael Samnik to the top corner of the net.
> In the 84th minute, Temple is a awarded a free kick, giving the squad an opportunity to equalize the match. Redshirt senior Mark Grasela collected the ball but shot it high of the net.
> With four seconds left in the game UCF tried for another point, but the effort was saved by sophomore Michael Samnik.
> Overall, Samnik logged two saves. Collectively, the Owls tallied 10 shots.

> Pyysalo started 65 matches at UCF and falls among nation's leaders in goals points and assists. The senior scored his 29th career goal in the 49th minute.
