Temple's Team Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. J. Milo Sewards, MD, was honored at the November 2nd Temple football game vs. Navy not just for his service to Temple Athletics, but for his service to our country. Less than 24 hours after assisting the Owls on the sidelines at Lincoln Financial Field, Dr. Sewards reported for a deployment with the U.S. Navy.
Dr. Sewards served his initial 3-year active-duty commitment to the US Navy at Beaufort Naval Hospital and Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot, in Beaufort South Carolina, and was deployed to Djibouti, Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After completing his military service, Dr. Sewards returned to Temple, joining the Katz School of Medicine faculty as an assistant professor and currently serves as team orthopedic physician and surgeon for Temple University Athletics, in particular football and men's and women's basketball. Dr. Sewards maintains the rank of Commander in the United States Navy Reserves.
