PHILADELPHIA – Temple golf coach Brian Quinn announced the signing of two recruits, Conor McGrath and Buddy Hansen, to National Letters of Intent to attend Temple University.
"We are happy to welcome Conor and Buddy to the Temple golf family," said Temple head golf coach Brian Quinn. "They are two tremendous young men from great families who also are superb golfers."
McGrath, a native of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., has achieved great success in his junior career, including earning American Junior Golf Association full exemption status. The younger brother of current Owl sophomore Liam McGrath, he started gaining notice when he made the cut as a 15-year old at the Joseph H. Patterson Cup. He would place second the following year at the Greg Norman Academy Championship held in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
McGrath enters his final year at the Academy of the New Church as the reigning Huntingdon Valley Junior and Club champion.
Hansen, a native of Blue Bell, Pa., has earned all-Catholic League at La Salle College High School the last two years, helping his team win three Catholic League titles and a District and Regional Championship. Hansen also earned all-District honors as a junior and was a regional qualifier.
On the junior circuit, Hansen has won seven titles over the past two years with five of the wins carding a 70 or under. He was a member of the 2016 Jon Pritsch Cup team and is a two-time runner up in the Montgomery County Junior Amateur (2016, 2017), losing to his future teammate, Dawson Anders, in a 2016 playoff.
