Volleyball Hosts UCF and USF this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team hosts a pair of key American Athletic Conference matches this weekend. The Owls will host UCF on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and USF on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
THE OWLS
> Temple is 16-8 overall with a 12-4 record in conference play.
> The Owls won both matches in their last series, winning 3-2 at SMU on Thursday, and 3-2 at Tulsa on Saturday.
> The Owls are in third place in the conference standings, just one game behind second place SMU.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS NIGHT
> On Friday, the Owls will host International Students Night.
> Students in attendance will receive free pizza.
> Songs from the countries of Temple's five international players will be played througout the match.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Senior Izzy Rapacz leads the team with 3.46 kills per set, also averaging 1.13 blocks per set.
> Redshirt Freshman Dana Westfield contributes 2.73 kills per frame.
> Junior Iva Deak (1.94 kills/set) and senior Janine Simmons (1.64 kills/set) and shore up the middle for the Owls.
> Simmons leads the team with 1.14 blocks per set.
> Coundourides averages 10.22 assists per set, with that number rising to 11.44 in conference play.
> Junior Mia Heirakuji tops the Owls' defense with 3.90 digs per set.Â
> Freshman Katerina Papazoglou adds 1.65 kills and 2.00 digs per set.
> Senior Dara Peric contributes all around with 1.60 kills per set and 2.40 digs per frame.
> As a team, the Owls hit .242, holding opponents to a .190 attack.
SCOUTING UCF
> UCF is 15-13 overall with an 8-8 record against conference opponents.
> The Knights have won two-straight matches.
> UCF is led by Kia Bright who has racked up 3.86 kills per set with 3.00 digs per set.
> Kristina Fisher (2.69 kills/set) and Alli Sabol (2.19 kills/set) also aid the Knights' offense.
> Erin Olson (5.71 assists/set) and Miranda Watkins (5.49 kills/set) split setting duties for UCF.
> Defensively, Jordan Pingel leads the team with 4.28 digs per set.
> Taylor Wickey leads the team with 115 total blocks.
> As a team, UCF hits .215, holding opponents to a .201 attack.
