Sharga Named Academic All-District

11.17.17 | Football

PHILADELPHIA- Senior fullback Nick Sharga has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District team for his accomplishments in the classroom this semester. The Cherryville, Penn., native holds a 3.79 GPA as a kinesiology major, and is scheduled to graduate next month. This is his second consecutive year earning this prestigious honor.

With 20 carries for 51 yards, including his first career touchdown, Sharga's contribution cannot be measured by his own statistics. The fullback has delivered bone-crushing body blows to defenders opening holes for the Owls' running game. While injuries have limited junior Ryquell Armstead, he has still rushed for a team-high 482 yards. Redshirt junior David Hood has stepped up with a career season totaling 397 yards and three scores, including his first two career 100-yard rushing games. Sharga's blocking has been a welcome staple for a team whose offensive line has battled multiple injuries throughout the 2017 season.

Sharga was among five Owls nominated for All-Academic honors. The four other candidates include redshirt freshman DT Dan Archibong (3.5, criminal justice), sophomore kicker Aaron Boumerhi (3.74, biochemistry), redshirt freshmen center Matt Hennessy (3.49, business management), and redshirt junior TE Chris Myarick (3.41, marketing).
