Lapsansky and Howard Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Cross Country Academic All-Area Teams

PHILADELPHIA - On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association released the 2017 men's and women's cross country Academic All-Area Teams. Lapsansky is one of eight student-athletes selected to the men's team while Howard is one of seven. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Throughout the 2017 season Lapsansky was major contributor to the team's success highlighted by a 11th place finish at the American Athletic Conference Championships. He earned All-Conference honors for his top-15 performance and helped Temple to a third place team finish, its highest-ever finish in the American. At the IC4A Championships, the sophomore placed 13th overall to earn All-East honors and aid men's cross country to its first-ever IC4A victory. As a freshman, Lapsansky was one of two student-athletes to represent Temple at the 2017 USATF Junior Cross Country Championships and finished 18th overall.

In the classroom, Lapsansky is a finance major within Temple's Fox School of Business and holds a 3.79 grade point average.

In 2017, Howard competed in five races for the Owls and was the squad's top finisher at the Temple Invitational on Sep. 5, earning second place to help women's cross country to its first team title of the season. At the American Cross Country Championships, the sophomore finished 21st overall to help the Owls to their highest-ever finish in the conference (third).

After advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional she closed out her freshman year with a 4.0 grade point average and a 2017 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team selection.
