Men's Tennis Falls to ECU in First Conference Match

PHILADELPHIA – In the Owls' first conference dual Friday evening, a final score of 3-4 handed Temple men's tennis a loss from the East Carolina Pirates. Artem Kapshukand Vineet Naran were able to post a doubles win in the number one slot and were followed by a singles victories from Uladzimir Dorash and Florian Mayer.
Mayer and Thomas Sevel battled Pirates duo Fredric Lehfeldt and Vlad Anghel in the second doubles flight, falling 6-3. The Dorash and Francisco Bohorquez pairing followed up with a 6-4 win over Ronny Georgi and James Ling.
In singles play, the Owls were able to log two wins with Dorash topping Georgi 6-4, 6-3 and Mayer beating Lehfeldt 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Kapshuk fell to ECU's Freddie McGeehan in the number one spot 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-0. He was followed up by Sevel, Dorash, Mayer, Bohorquez and Naran.
The Owls now stand 0-1 overall in their 2017 conference play and look forward to a dual against UConn on Saturday Feb.18 at the Hamlin Tennis Courts.
