Women's Tennis Kicks Off Conference Play with 4-3 Win Over UConn

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis picked up its first American Athletic Conference victory of the season in Saturday evening's conference opener against the UConn Huskies. The Owls fought through a tough dual to finish with a final score of 4-3.
In doubles play, Yana Khon and Monet Stuckey-Willis were able to grab the only win throughout the three flights. The pair topped UConn duo Gillian Perrotta and Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph 7-6(3).
Alina Abdurakhimova continued her dominance in the number one singles position, defeating Emma Alderman 6-3, 6-2. Dina Karina, Anais Nussaume and Khon were able to pick up wins of their own in singles play to put the team over the Huskies and secure the win.
The Owls will head into a three-match non-conference stretch that begins with a dual against James Madison University on Friday, Feb. 24.
