Women's Tennis Posts Fourth Dual Victory With 5-0 Sweep of Villanova

PHILADELPHIA – In an early Friday-morning dual, Temple women's tennis defeated the Villanova Wildcats with a final score of 5-0. Yana Khon and Monet Stuckey-Willis pulled in a big doubles win followed by singles victories from Alina Abdurakhimova, Monet Stuckey-Willis, Anais Nussaume, and Dina Karina.

"The girls have been playing some great tennis. We were really happy the way they came out strong in singles today. All six really performed well and have been the last couple matches. We look forward to our next match against Penn." said Coach Mauro

Khon and Stuckey-Willis played in the top doubles spot and topped the Wildcat duo of Kaylan Rotman and Lindsey Evans. Abdurakhimova and Karina followed up with a doubles win, defeating Victoria Martinez and Sydney King, 6-2. Nussaume and Bedon rounded out the doubles play but did not finish their match to Paulina Bajet and Linley Busby.

Abdurakhimova kicked off the singles play with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Rotman. Stuckey-Willis followed with a win in the second position, defeating Martinez 6-2, 7-5. Nussaume and Karina also posted wins in the fourth and fifth positions. Khon and Castelli also saw action in today's single play but both matches did not finish.

The Owls are back in action with city-rival, University of Pennsylvania, in a dual match scheduled for tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
