Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 to Local Rival Penn

PHILADELPHIA – In the Owls' second dual of the weekend, a final score of 6-1 handed Temple women's tennis a loss from local rivals, the Penn Quakers. Alina Abdurakhimova and Dina Karina were able to post a doubles win in the number two slot and were followed by a singles victory from Mariana Bedon.
Yana Khon and Money Stuckey-Willis battled Penn duo Kana Daniel and Ria Vaidya in the first doubles flight, falling 7-5. The Abdurakhimova and Karina pairing followed up with a 6-4 win over OJ Singh and Sarah Dreyfuss.
In singles play, the Quakers were able to log five straight wins before Bedon topped Singh 6-4, 6-4.
Breaking an undefeated singles streak, Abdurakhimova fell to Daniel 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. She was followed up by Stuckey-Willis, Anais Nussaume, Khon, and Karina, all of whom were unable to defeat their Penn opponents.
The Owls now stand 4-3 overall in their 2017 campaign and look forward to a dual against FDU on Friday Feb. 10 at the Upper Dublin Sports Center.
