3.16.17 | Women's Tennis
PHILADELPHIA – A close back-and-forth match for Temple women's tennis on Thursday afternoon ended in favor of the opposing Delaware Blue Hens, 4-3. The tight match saw singles wins from Alina Aburakhimova, Dina Karina and Mariana Bedon, but was not enough to hold of Delaware inside Penn's indoor tennis facility.
In doubles flights, Galina Chernykh and Karina logged a 6-1 victory over the Blue Hen's duo of Arielle Shuren and Annie Jaskulski in the third position. Yana Khon and Monet Stuckey-Willis played in the first spot with Anais Nussaume and Abdurakhimova dropped their match in the second doubles slot.
Stuckey-Willis also played in the opening spot during singles play, but fell to Delaware's Sara Komer. Abdurakhimova grabbed her win the second position with Khon, Karina, Nussaume, and Bedon following that respective order.
Overall, the Owls now stand at 8-7 with a second match for the week coming up tomorrow against local-rival La Salle. Temple returns to American Athletic Conference matches on March 26 with a road trip to USF.
