Temple Student-Athletes Host It's On Us Pledge Drive and Represent the University at State Capitol

PHILADELPHIA – On Monday, Temple student-athletes joined those across all three NCAA divisions for the It's On Us Student-Athlete Day of Action. In efforts to encourage fellow student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and the greater Temple community to take the It's On Us Pledge, the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) collected over 113 names during its day-long pledge drive.
In the midst of Sexual Assault Awareness month, SAAC held its pledge drive in front of the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes. SAAC representatives from each varsity sport encouraged those that stopped by the table to take the online It's On Us Pledge and bring home an It's On Us pledge sticker as well as a teal ribbon, the designated symbol for support of sexual assault awareness. Those who took the pledge were also given the opportunity to take pictures with Temple's It's On Us cutout and share with friends via social media using the Temple day of action's custom snapchat filter.
Vineet Naran, Temple men's tennis SAAC representative, traveled to Harrisburg on Tuesday to witness Governor Tom Wolf introduce legislation surrounding sexual assault. Governor Wolf's six new pieces of legislation lend a hand to the It's On Us campaign with aims to end sexual violence on college campuses. Naran addressed the room at the State Capitol on behalf of It's On Us and the NCAA Division I student-athletes taking part in the campaign.
It's On Us is an initiative to raise awareness and change the culture of sexual assault on college campuses. After winning this year's NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee It's On Us video contest, Temple SAAC aims to continue to take action on campus to address the issue and create change.
