PHILADELPHIA – In its first of three home matches to close the regular season, Temple women's tennis posted a 7-0 shut out over Rider on Sunday afternoon. All three doubles matches and six singles matches went in favor of the Owls to post their first win since March 17.
Alina Abdurakhimova and Yana Khon opened up the doubles action in the first position with a 6-2 victory over Cyd Melendez and CAnessa Canda. Monet Stuckey-Willis, with Mariana Bedon, secured a win in the second position followed by Anais Nussaume and Galina Chernykh.
Abdurakhimova also played in the opening singles spot where she topped Vanessa Canda 6-1, 6-2 to kick off a dominant run for the Owls. Stuckey-Willis played second followed by Chernykh, Bedon, Nussaume and Cecilia Castelli.
Overall, the Owls now stand 10-11 with just two matches remaining in the regular season. The team will face Binghampton next on April 14. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion.
