Women's Soccer Opens with 3-2 OT Win at FDU

TEANECK, N.J. - In its thrilling season opener, Temple (1-0) edged out Fairleigh Dickinson (0-1) with a 3-2 overtime win Friday night. The match, held at Fairleigh Dickinson, was delayed by two hours at the start due to heavy rain. It was freshman midfielder Julia Dolan who saved the day for Temple, scoring in the 92nd minute to lift the Owls to their overtime victory.
 
Keys to the Match
 
> Senior midfielder Elana Falcone kicked things off by scoring the Owls' first goal of the season in the ninth minute on a beautiful assist from junior midfielder Sarah McGlinn.
 
> The Owls kept the pressure on the Knights in the first 45 minutes, outshooting FDU 7-4 in the first half.
 
> Later in the second half, Temple junior forward Kerri McGinley tacked on another goal off a rebound to push the Owls' lead to 2-0.
 
> Viktorija Miseljic answered for the Knights, scoring a goal and cutting the Owls' lead to 2-1 on an assist from Jessi Reinhardt.
 
> Miseljic scored again, tying the game in the 89th minute, sending the game to overtime off an assist from Daria Jones.
 
> Dolan then came through for the Owls in overtime with the game-winning header off a corner from redshirt senior forward Kayla Cunningham.

> Two Owls, Dolan and McGinley, scored their first career goals. 
 
> Falcone has now eclipsed the 20 career point mark with her goal in the game and is the Owls' active leader in career points with 21.

> Junior goalkeeper Jordan Nash came up huge for the Owls with six saves, making great stops in pivotal moments.
