Men's Soccer to Host Duquesne on Tuesday for 3 p.m. Match

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer will host Duquesne on Sept. 19 to begin a two-game homestand. The Owls are set to take on the Dukes for the first time since 2012 on Tuesday at 3 p.m. before beginning conference play on Saturday Sept. 23.

Scouting the Owls
>Temple is coming off a 2-0 loss to Fairfield on Saturday Sept. 16.
>The last time the Owls played at the Temple Sports Complex the squad suffered a 1-0 loss in overtime to Rider. Temple allowed just one goal in the 94th minute.
>Temple is looking for its second win of the season, with a 1-4-1 record. Its first and only win of 2017 was a 1-0 victory at Villanova on Aug. 29.
> Seniors Mark Grasela and Joonas Jokinen remain Temple's lone goal scorers so far in 2017. Jokinen holds two (Saint Joseph's and Delaware). Grasela scored his first career goal at Villanova.
 
Scouting the Dukes
>Duquesne is 2-4-0 so far in 2017.
>The squad's last match resulted in a 2-1 victory on its home field against Navy.
>The Dukes return seven starters from last season's 8-5-5 team.
>Duquesne returns 13 of its 16 goals scored last season in the form of senior Fredrik Borenstein (3), junior Ian Larson (2), sophomore Ryan Landry (2), sophomore Zach Hall (2), junior Austin Stout (2), sophomore Jallah Acqui (1) and junior Olav Hovstad (1). The team also returns its top five point-getters from last season in Borenstein (nine points, 3g/3a). Landry (seven points, 2g/3a), Larson (six points, 2g/2a), Hall (five points, 2g/1a) and Stout (four points, 2g).
>Borenstein leads the team in career points (26), goals (9) and assists (8).

Of Note
>Temple will host Duquesne for the first time at the Temple Sports Complex. The last match took place at Ambler Soccer Field.

The Series
>The series is level between the Owls and the Dukes (8-8-2). The last time Temple saw game action against Duquesne was in 2012. The squad topped the Dukes 2-1 at the old Ambler Soccer Field.
