Men's Soccer Slated for Match at Memphis on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - Men's soccer will head to Memphis (2-4-2) this weekend for its second conference match of 2017. The game is slated for Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. (E.T.)/ 7 p.m. (C.T.) The Owls (3-5-1) are coming off a 3-0 win over Penn State on Sept. 27.
Scouting the Owls
> Sophomore Thibault Candia was Temple's leading goal scorer against Penn State. Candia managed two goals for the Owls, reaching his fourth of the season.
> In his third start of the season, freshman Alan Soto Camacho scored the first goal of match against the Nittany Lions.
> Sophomore Michael Samnik took his second career start against Penn State. Samnik logged three saves in the shutout.
> Candia, named to this week's American and Philadelphia Soccer Six Weekly Honor Rolls, scored his first two career goals against Duquesne on Sept. 19. The sophomore led Temple to a 4-1 win, its second victory of the season.
> Temple's 10 goals in 2017 are spread among redshirt senior Mark Grasela, senior Joonas Jokinen, sophomores Candia, Lukas Fernandes, and Zach Brown, and freshman Soto Camacho.
Scouting the Tigers
> Memphis closed out 2016 with a record of 8-8-1 and returns 13 student-athletes.
> David Zalzman, Luke Biasi, Ben Roberts, Chris Mikus, Jackson Morse, and Charles Blakenship have all contributed to scoring with one goal each.
> Goalkeeper Jake Leeker has logged 34 total saves so far in 2017 with one shutout against Belmont.
> Mikus was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of Sept. 25. Roberts was named to the conference's Weekly Honor Roll.
