Women’s Soccer Travels to ECU Sunday

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's soccer (6-7-1, 2-2-1 AAC) heads to Greenville, N.C. to face ECU (7-5-2, 2-4 AAC) on Sunday. The Owls will take on the Pirates at 1 p.m. for their last road match of the regular season.

The Owls
> Sophomore midfielder Emma Wilkins leads Temple in goals (6) and points (12). Gabriela Johnson has had a strong presence on the offensive end as well, tallying five goals and one assist for 11 points.
> Junior forward Morgan Morocco leads the Owls with two assists. Six Owls are tied in this category, with Marissa DiGenova, Natalie Druehl, Hailey Gutowski, Emily Keitel, Johnson and Kerri McGinley contributing to one goal each.
> Junior goalkeeper Morgan Basileo has notched 1154 minutes between the posts on the season. She has a goals against average of 1.25 and a 0.828 save percentage. Basileo has earned a win in all five of Temple's shutouts this year.
> Last time out, Temple battled in a 110-minute double overtime contest on Oct. 11, tying Cincinnati 2-2. After entering the second half at a 1-0 deficit, the Owls maintained their composure. Johnson netted the equalizer in the 54th minute. She shook her defender at the top of the box, fired a shot and found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season. Temple struck again in the 63rd minute. Druehl picked off a Cincinnati pass near midfield, took it up the center and targeted Wilkins to her right. Wilkins controlled the pass and finished to tally her sixth goal of the season and give Temple a 2-1 lead. The Pirates tied it up 2-2 in the 75th minute.

Scouting the Pirates
> ECU is led by head coach Jason Hamilton, who is in his first season with the Pirates.
> The Pirates are 7-5-2 overall, playing their most recent match on Oct. 7 at No. 25 USF. ECU fell 4-0 to the Bulls.
> Forward Jenna Dages leads a well-rounded Pirates offense. She has netted a team-leading six goals, while also contributing an assist, for a total of 13 points. With five goals and one assist, forward Courtney Cash is also key contributor for ECU. Five other Pirates have scored two goal apiece.
> Midfielder Daria Draovitch leads the team with four assists on the season, while Jayda Hylton-Pelaia has tallied three.
> Goalkeeper Melanie Stiles has been a mainstay between the posts for the Pirates. Stiles has logged 1291 minutes, a goals against average of 1.36 and 56 saves through 14 matches.

> This will be the sixth matchup between the Owls and the Pirates. ECU holds a slight advantage in the series, leading 2-1-1
> The most recent contest was held in 2017 at the Temple Sports Complex. The Owls defeated the Pirates 1-0.
