Women’s Soccer Heads to Cincinnati Thursday

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's soccer (6-7, 2-2 AAC) hits the road to take on Cincinnati (6-7-2, 1-4-1 AAC) on Thursday. The Owls will face the Bearcats at 7 p.m. at Gettler Stadium.

The Owls
> Sophomore midfielder Emma Wilkins leads the team in goals (5) and points (10). Her five goals are good for the fifth highest tally in the American. Gabriela Johnson has also been an offensive force with four goals and one assist for nine points.
> Junior forward Morgan Morocco leads the Owls with two assists. Five Owls are tied in this category, with Marissa DiGenova, Hailey Gutowski, Emily Keitel, Johnson and Kerri McGinley contributing to one goal each.
> Morgan Basileo and Johnson earned weekly honors for their outstanding efforts against UCF and USF. Basileo was named the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week, while Johnson earned AAC Rookie of the Week & Under Armour/Owlsports.com Athlete of the Week accolades for the second week in a row.
> Basileo has notched 1044 minutes between the posts on the season, with a goals against average of 1.21 and a 0.831 save percentage. She has earned a win in all five of Temple's shutouts this year.
> The team is coming off a bye week. Last time out, Temple faced No. 19 USF at the Temple Sports Complex on Sept. 30. The Owls showed grit and a fearless mentality as they edged the Bulls in a 1-0 double overtime victory. Temple prevailed in the 105th minute, with the golden goal coming off the boot of Johnson. This was the program's first victory over a ranked opponent since the 1995 squad defeated No. 15 UMass.

Scouting the Bearcats
> Cincinnati is led by head coach Neil Stafford, who is in his sixth season with the Bearcats.
> The Bearcats are 6-7-2 overall, playing their most recent match on Oct. 7 at UCF. Cincinnati lost 2-1 in double overtime to the Knights.
> Forward Jill Vetere is a key component of the Bearcats' offense. She has tallied a team-leading five goals. Sophie Gorman, Sydney Kilgore and Dee Picou have each netted two goals on the season.
> Vetere also leads the team with three assists. Seven different Bearcats have contributed to at least one goal this season.
> Two keepers have seen time in the net for the Bearcats. Redshirt junior Claudia Eustaquio has logged 580 minutes, has a goals against average of 1.4 and 26 saves across seven matches. Redshirt sophomore Madison Less has tallied 748 minutes, has a goals against average of 1.93 and 46 saves through nine contests.

> This will be the sixth matchup between the Owls and the Bearcats. Cincinnati holds a slight advantage in the series, leading 3-2.
> The most recent contest was held in 2017 in Cincinnati. The Bearcats defeated the Owls 3-0.
