Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 3-0, matching last year's start which was the best since 2012-13. Most recently, Temple held off a late run by Georgia to come away with an 81-77 win and avenge an 18-point loss in Athens a year ago.
> Senior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. scored 25 points vs. Georgia, getting his 1,000th career point early in a 16-point second half. He is the 53rd player in program history to reach the 1,000 point plateau and has now scored 1,014 points. Alston's 25-point effort came on the heels of scoring a career-high 30 points in Temple's win over Detroit Mercy.
> Also scoring 25 points vs. Georgia was junior guard Quinton Rose who made 11-of-24 field goals. Rose is also eyeing the 1,000-point mark, currently with 872 points.
> Temple trailed Detroit Mercy by four points at halftime on Nov. 9, but outscored the Titans by 20 in the second half, including going on a 17-0 run to take a double-digit lead for good.
> The Owls opened the season with a Philadelphia Big 5 win over La Salle, 75-67. Rose led Temple with 15 points, while sophomore Nate Pierre-Louis notched his first career double-double with 13 rebounds to go with 14 points.
> After being one of the last teams to start their season in 2017-18 on Nov. 16, the Owls were one of the first with their Nov. 6 tip-off this year. Temple's first home game a year ago was not until a full month later on Dec. 6. The team's start date this year was in fact the earliest ever in the history of the program.
> The 2018-19 season is the 13th and final year at the helm for head coach Fran Dunphy. Taking the reins in 2019-20 will be current associate head coach Aaron McKie. Dunphy has an overall record of 560-315 in his 29+ year career, and has a 250-152 record in his 12+ seasons with the Owls.

Scouting Loyola Maryland
> The Greyhounds lost their first two games of the season to St. John's and Dartmouth, but rebounded with a 91-62 win over Delaware State on Nov. 13.
> Loyola is coming off a 9-22 season but has a new head coach in Tavaras Hardy, formerly an assistant at Georgia Tech.
> Three players are averaging double figures in scoring so far for the Greyhounds, led by junior guard Chuck Champion with 14.7 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.
> Loyola had three players return this season who averaged 10.3 or more points per game in 2017-18 - Champion (11.5 ppg), Andrew Kostecka (11.0 ppg) and Isaiah Hart (10.3 ppg).
