Temple Women's Basketball Falls at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane used a 12-3 run midway through the fourth quarter to create all the separation needed, as the Temple women's basketball team fell 69-65 on the road on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Owls to 10-13 overall, 2-8 in conference play, while the Green Wave improve to 11-12, 3-7.

KEYS TO THE GAME
> A back-and-forth first half saw Tulane lead by eight in the first, and Temple by seven in the second, before settling at 28-28 at the break.
> Temple had the slight edge after three, as the Owls led by one, 44-43.
> Tulane's 12-3 run gave the Green Wave a 10-point cushion that would stand.
> Temple got the lead down to four on a put-back from freshman Mia Davis, but time was not on Temple's side, as Tulane held for the win.
> For the game, Tulane out-shot Temple 44.6% to 39.3%, while also holding a 40-30 edge on the glass.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
> Senior Tanaya Atkinson tallied 23 points with eight rebounds to lead Temple in both categories.
> Freshman Mia Davis finished her night with 13 points and six rebounds.
> Graduate student Mykia Jones tallied nine points, while freshman Desiree Oliver and junior Lena Niang each had six.

FIRST QUARTER
> After Temple took a 4-3 lead, the Green Wave went on a 9-0 run to take a 12-4 lead.
> Temple cut the advantage to 12-8 on back-to-back scores, before Tulane ended the frame with a put-back to make it 14-8.

SECOND QUARTER
> Temple erased Tulane's lead with a 9-0 run to start the second quarter, as the Owls went up 17-14 on an Atkinson three.
> Tulane cut it to 20-19, before another Temple surge, this one 8-2, put the visitors up 28-21 with 3:10 to play.
> From there, Tulane ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to tie things at 28-28 at the break.

THIRD QUARTER
> After back-and-forth action to start the third, Tulane went on a 9-0 run to take a 41-35 lead with 4:01 to play.
> Temple responded by closing the frame on a 9-2 run, to give Temple a slim 44-43 lead after three.


FOURTH QUARTER
> With the scored tied at 46-46, Tulane went on 12-3 run, including the first five points of the game from Tatyana Lofton, to make it 57-49 with 5:21 to play. 
> Temple was able to get the lead down to four points (69-65), but with only six seconds on the clock, that stood as the final score.

UP NEXT
> Temple returns home to host UCF on Saturday.
> The Owls and the Knights will tip-off at 2:00 p.m. on The American Digital Network.
> Saturday's game will be a breast cancer fundraiser, as the Owls will raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer fund.
