Lacrosse Ends Five-Game Homestand vs. Cincinnati on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - In the last of five straight home games for Temple lacrosse, the Owls will host BIG EAST foe Cincinnati at noon on Saturday, March 24. Temple (6-3, 1-0) is coming off an upset of #22/16 Denver in its conference opener, while Cincinnati is 6-2 overall but looking for its first league win after a loss to Marquette.
Scouting Temple
>Â The Owls have won three straight and are coming off a 10-9 upset of #22/16 Denver in the BIG EAST opener on March 18. It was an intense, back-and-forth thriller, but the 12th save by sophomore goalkeeper Maryn Lowell with 20 seconds left kept Temple in the lead.
> Lowell earned numerous honors for her play last week, including being named the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week. She has also been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks. The sophomore is having an impressive season in the cage, with her 93 saves so far this season ranking second among all players in NCAA Division I. Her 10.33 saves per game rank 19th.
> The sophomore class is leading the way for Temple this season all over the field. Sophomore Maddie Gebert has scored a team-best 17 goals, while sophomore Olivia Thompson has 14 goals and five assists to tie Gebert for first on the team with 19 total points. Sophomore and team tri-captain Kara Nakrasius has a team-best 34 draw controls.
> The defense has gotten a huge boost from senior tri-captain Nicole Latgis with a team-best 20 caused turnovers and team-best 26 ground balls along with 28 draw controls.
> Two of Temple's three losses have come against teams ranked in the IWLCA Top 10 - #9 Princeton and #7 James Madison.
> Head Coach Bonnie Rosen recorded her 100th Temple win at Lafayette. Rosen is in her 12th season at the helm with a career record of 171-176 (22nd year) and a 103-95 record at Temple.

> With six wins already in 2018, the Bearcats have tied their season total from 2017 which was the most since 2013.
> Cincinnati went 6-11 last year, but won six straight this season after dropping its opener to Louisville. One of those six wins was against Ohio State, marking the program's first-ever victory over the Buckeyes.
> To start BIG EAST play, Cincinnati suffered just its second loss, 19-15 at Marquette.
>Â Sophomore attacker Monica Borzillo and sophomore midfielder McKenna Rushford lead Cincinnati with 25 goals each. Borzillo also has a team-best 16 assists for 41 total points, while Rushford is close behind with 12 assists and 37 total points.
> Head coach Gina Oliver is in her sixth season at Cincinnati, with an overall record of 31-62.
