OwLacrosse the Years: Temple Celebrates 60 Years of Lacrosse at Gala
6.4.18 | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA - From 1958 to 2018, members of Temple lacrosse from the 60 years of the program's existence celebrated and reunited at "OwLacrosse the Years," a gala put on by the current coaching staff and Temple Athletics on Saturday, June 2 at McGonigle Hall. Past head coaches, All-Americans and championship teams were among those celebrated as a good time was had by all at the well-attended event.
Head coach Bonnie Rosen and associate head coach Jennifer Wong have spent over a year putting their original plan into action with help from many members of the Temple Athletics and Owl Club staff. Every decade was represented, with special guests including first-ever head coach Joan Edenborn Stiles and Hall of Fame head coach Tina Sloan Green.
"Saturday evening's celebration of 60 years of Temple Lacrosse was truly magical!" said Rosen. "While the evening brought together and celebrated the people and accomplishments of Temple Lacrosse throughout six decades, it was even more meaningful than that. 'OwLacrosse the Years' represented all that is good in women's lacrosse and in women's athletics!"Â
The evening featured cocktails, passed hors d'oeuvres and food stations, with a wealth of delicious food provided by Leslie Rosen Catering. Guests were treated to numerous videos honoring both individuals and decades of the program (links above). Temple celebrated its 1982, 1984 and 1988 National Championship teams as well as its 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship teams.
