Women’s Soccer Hosts Sacred Heart Friday; Travels to Delaware State Sunday

PHILADELPHIA- Temple women's soccer (0-1 overall, 0-0 AAC) will play a pair of games this weekend. The team's second match of the season will be at home against the Sacred Heart Pioneers (0-1 overall, 0-0 NEC) on Friday, August 24 at 7 p.m. The Owls are looking to notch their first win of the season. Temple travels to Delaware State (0-2 overall, 0-0 MEAC) on Sunday, August 26 to take on the Hornets at 2 p.m.

Scouting the Owls
> Temple is led by head coach Seamus O'Connor, who is in his 6th season at the helm of the program. The team enters the weekend with a 0-1 record after a 2-1 loss to Saint Joseph's.
> The Owls' depth was on display in the first game of the season, as seventeen players saw playing time in Friday's match against Saint Joseph's.
> Junior goalkeeper Morgan Basileo had 17 saves against Saint Joseph's. She smashed her previous single-game record of 10 saves that she earned against Tulsa on Oct. 8, 2017.
> Junior forward Jules Blank netted Temple's sole goal of the season thus far. Blank had a strong showing against Saint Joseph's after being out much of last season due to injury.

> Sacred Heart is led by head coach Matt Micros (93-107-21), who is in his first season with the Pioneers.
> The Pioneers were picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
> Sacred Heart returns All-NEC second team selection senior Melanie DaSilva as well as Alex Mesropyan.
> Sacred Heart is 0-1 after a 3-2 loss in the season opener against Iona.

> Delaware State is led by head coach Kortney Rhoades (6-23-4), who is in her third season with the Hornets.
> The Hornets return key veterans in midfielders Samantha Bahr and Braxton Clark and defender Toni Jackson.
> Jade Jamison, a transfer from Army West Point, scored her first her collegiate goal for the Hornets against Lafayette.
> The Hornets are 0-2 after the first week of the season, falling 7-0 to Hartford and 5-1 to Lafayette.
