THIS WEEK
Despite a high scoring effort against Buffalo, the Temple Owls find themselves 0-2 heading into its first road game of the season. The Owls head to the University of Maryland to take on the Terrapins for their third non-conference game of the season. Kickoff is set for Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 12:00 ET and will air on the Big Ten Network and 97.5 The Fanatic. The Terrapins are being led by interim head coach Matt Canada as head coach DJ Durkin is currently on leave.

Temple and Maryland first met in September, 1997, and played at historic Franklin Field. The game resulted in a Maryland win 24-21. Temple is still in search for a victory this season while Maryland is coming off a win against Bowling Green.  Temple proved they could put up points in week two by hanging 29 total and 15 in the final quarter on Buffalo, but an unsuccessful late game drive left the Owls without a victory against the Bulls.

This past weekend, RB Ryquell Armstead rushed 14 times for 107-yards including a run for 50-yards. That was his fifth career 100-yards rushing game. QB Frank Nutile went 15-31 for 216-yards and three touchdowns. He completed passes to eight different Owls and connected with WR Branden Mack for two touchdowns and WR Randle Jones for one touchdown. Both receivers caught their first career touchdowns against Buffalo. Jones led the Owls in receiving with 50-yards. Isaiah Wright, Kenny Yeboah, and Mack led Temple with three catches apiece. Yeboah caught a two-point conversion that was thrown on a reverse by WR Ventell Bryant. QBs Anthony Russo and Todd Centeio also saw action in a variety of packages in the game. Russo completed his first collegiate pass to WR Brodrick Yancy for 18-yards.

Defensively the Owls continued to make plays despite the outcome of the contest. Rock Ya-Sin had his first career interception as an Owl and he also had three pass-breakups and seven seven tackles. SAF Delvon Randall led Temple with nine tackles and one pass-breakup. SAF Benny Walls had eight tackles.

The Owls continue to prove how good its special teams are by getting another blocked punt. With Buffalo backed up into their own endzone, Mack was able to block the punt before it was recovered in the endzone for a touchdown by CB Ty Mason.

LAST TIME vs. MARYLAND
The last time Temple and Maryland faced off was on September 8, in week 2 of the 2012 season. Temple was down 26-3 going into halftime, rallied, and brought the game all the way to 29-27. The Owls fell just short, turning the ball over on a potential game winning drive before eventually losing 36-27.

LAST TIME @ MARYLAND
The last time the Owls traveled to Maryland was on September 24, 2011. The Owls dominated the Terrapins, 38-7, led by RB Bernard Pierce who rushed for a Temple record five touchdowns. At the time, it was Temple's first BCS road win since 2002 and first-ever win over an ACC opponent (Maryland has since moved to the Big Ten). At the time, Pierce was leading the nation with 12 rushing touchdowns after running 32 times for 149-yards in the contest.
