Women’s Soccer Hosts UCF on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA — Temple women's soccer (5-6, 1-1 AAC) returns to the Temple Sports Complex to host UCF after completing a six-game road stretch. The Owls will face the Knights on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m.

The Owls
> This contest against UCF marks Temple's first game back at the TSC since Sept. 2. The Owls hold a 2-2 record on their home pitch so far this season. The team is looking to improve to 0.500 on the season and 2-1 in the AAC.
> Sophomore midfielder Emma Wilkins leads the team in goals (5). Her five goals are tied for the fifth most in the American.
> Six Owls are tied in assists, with Marissa DiGenova, Hailey Gutowski, Emily Keitel, Gabriela Johnson, Kerri McGinley and Morgan Morocco contributing to one goal each.
> Johnson earned two weekly accolades for her standout performance against Houston on Sunday. She was named American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week & Under Armour/Owlsports.com Athlete of the Week.
> Goalkeeper Morgan Basileo has notched 849 minutes on the season, with a goals against average of 1.27 and a 0.829 save percentage. She has earned a win in all four of Temple's shutouts this year.
> Last time out, Temple earned their first conference victory of the season, defeating Houston, 3-2, in a hard-fought overtime contest. The Owls edged out the Cougars behind a full-team effort, with a goal by junior Morgan Morocco and a brace by freshman Gabriela Johnson that included the golden goal.
Scouting the Knights
> UCF is led by head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak, who is in her sixth season with the Knights.
> The Knights are 3-3-1 overall, playing their most recent match on Sept. 16 at Stetson. UCF downed the Hatters 5-1 to improve to 2-1-1 on the road.
> Midfielder Zandy Soree leads the Knights with five goals. Forward Stefanie Sanders is close behind with four, the majority of which she tallied with a hat trick in UCF's previous match at Stetson.
> Sanders and forward Dina Orschmann lead the squad in assists with two apiece, with five other players contributing one each.
> Senior Vera Varis has been a mainstay between the posts for UCF. She has notched 630 minutes across seven matches with 21 saves. Varis has a goals against average of 1.14 and a 0.724 save percentage.
> The Knights have outshot their opponents 116-53 and outscored them 13-8.
