Football Set to Host Tulane for the 150 Years of CFB Celebration

The Owls are 6-3 and 3-2 in the conference after taking down USF 17-7 last Thursday night. Following the primetime win, the Owls became bowl eligible for the sixth straight season. This week, Temple will host the Tulane Green Wave for the first time since 2015. This game will be a part of the 150 Years of College Football Celebration. The Owls will be wearing throwback jerseys to commemorate the first ever Sugar Bowl that took place in 1935 between Temple and Tulane. Kickoff is set for Saturday, November 16, at 12:00 p.m. ET and will air on ESPNU and can be heard on 97.5 The Fanatic and WHIP Radio.
Last Week
Against USF, the Owls got back to their winning ways and stopped a two game slide after losing to Top 10 offenses, #20 SMU and UCF. This week Temple ran the ball well and played some suffocating defense that resulted in the 17-7 victory. The Owls scored the only touchdown of the first half on a one-yard touchdown pass from QB Todd Centeio to TE Kenny Yeboah. The touchdown as set up by a 57-yard run down the sideline by RB Jager Gardner who was caught just before the goaline. WR Jadan Blue led all receivers with 11 catches for 121 yards. It was his third 100-yard receiving performance of the season.
The front four caused problems for the USF offense all night. The defense held USF to 61 yards rushing and 286 total yards in the contest and recorded nine sacks. DE Quincy Roche had a career-high 3.5 sacks, DE DeAndre Kelly had a strip sack for the second time this season, and DE Dana Levine had 1.5 sacks. CB Christian Braswell also had a forced fumble that was scooped up by LB Sam Franklin who took it 39 yards for the touchdown to give the Owls a 14-0 lead. After surrendering seven points, Will Mobley extended the Owls' lead to 17-7 after hitting 44-yard field goal, matching his career long.
Last Time vs. Tulane
The last time Temple and Tulane faced off was on November 19, 2016. The Owls dominated the Green Wave and secured a 31-0 victory in New Orleans. Temple's defense held Tulane to 142 total yards and 24 passing yards. QB Phillip Walker completed 18-33 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore WR Ventell Bryant had nine catches for 168 yards and a touchdown in the contest. RB Jahad Thomas had a rushing and receiving touchdown as well. The suffocating defense combined with the balanced offensive attack made it a dominating win for the Owls.
Last Time vs. Tulane @ Lincoln Financial Field
The last time Temple and Tulane faced off at Lincoln Financial Field was on October 10, 2015. The Owls won 49-10 and outgained the Green Wave 345-110 yards in the game. Both RB Jahad Thomas and Ryquell Armstead had two touchdowns a piece. WR Robby Anderson led all receivers with 4 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. The Owls were clicking in all phases of the game in the win.
