Football Set to Clash with #19 Cincinnati in an AAC East Battle

THIS WEEK
The Owls are 7-3 and 4-2 in the conference after taking down Tulane, 29-21, on Saturday in a hard fought battle. The Owls head to #19 Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats in a game that will be key in determining the American Athletic Conference East Division winner and place in the conference championship game. Kickoff is set for Saturday, November 23, at 7:00 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN2 and can be heard on 610 ESPN.
LAST WEEK
Against Tulane, QBs Anthony Russo and Todd Centeio both tossed touchdowns as WR Jadan Blue (12-131-1) and TE Kenny Yeboah (5-63-2) had career days. DE Quincy Roche (12 tackles, six TFLS, three sacks, and a forced fumble) put on a defensive show as the Owls fought hard in the victory. Kicker Will Mobley tied a career-best as well as he was perfect on three field goal attempts. Roche set an AAC record with six TFLs in the game and has 6.5 sacks in the last two games. He ranks seventh in FBS and tied for first in the AAC with 9.5 sacks.
The front four continued to cause problems for opposing quarterbacks and have been bringing the pressure as of late. The defense continues to lead the FBS with 59 QB hits and 246 total QB pressures this season, according to Pro Football Focus. The Owls held the Green Wave to 130 yards passing and SAF Ayron Monroe grabbed his first career interception to end the first half and prevent Tulane from scoring before halftime. WR Jadan Blue had back-to-back 10+ reception and 100+ yard games. Blue and WR Branden Mack have four 100+ yard receiving games apiece this year.
LAST TIME VS. CINCINNATI
The last time Temple and Cincinnati faced off was on October 20, 2018. Cincinnati came to Philadelphia ranked #20 and 6-0 on the season. The Owls were able to suffocate the Bearcats on offense and limit duel-threat QB Desmond Ridder to 111 yards through the air and nine yards rushing. QB Anthony Russo threw two interceptions late in the game, but led a seven play 75-yard drive capped off by a 20-yard touchdown pass with 49 seconds left in the game to force overtime. Russo followed that drive up with a 25-yard touchdown to WR Isaiah Wright to take the lead. The defense held strong in OT and LB Shaun Bradley ended the game with an interception on a third-and-long. Temple handed Cincinnati its first loss of the season, 24-17.

The last time Temple and Cincinnati faced off Nippert Stadium was on November 10, 2017. The Owls took down the Bearcats 35-24. QB Frank Nutile ran and threw for a touchdown. Isaiah Wright returned a kickoff 98-yards for a touchdown. RB David Hood led the ground game with 108 yards on 23 carries. Kicker Aaron Boumerhi kicked two field goals in the methodical victory.
