Owls Earn Two ECAC Players of the Year; Five Named to All-ECAC Team

PHILADELPHIA – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the honorees for its five major annual awards and the league's All-ECAC selections. Temple's DE Quincy Roche has won Defensive Player of the Year. True freshman RB Re'Mahn Davis brought home the Offensive Rookie of the Year, while five Owls (Roche, WR Jadan Blue, OL Jovahn Fair, OL Matt Hennessy, and DT Ifeanyi Maijeh) found themselves voted onto the All-ECAC team.
Quincy Roche lived in the opponent's backfield this season as the Temple University junior recorded 13 sacks, tying an AAC record, and recorded 18 tackles for loss. The American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year was named second team All-American by Sports Illustrated, Pro Football Focus, and Sporting News. Roche's season was highlighted by an AAC Player of the Week effort against Tulane with 12 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 6.0 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He had 10 total sacks in the month of November.
Re'Mahn Davis set the pace for the Owl backfield that rushed for 1,706 yards this season. Davis totaled 178 carries for 900 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry and finding the endzone seven times. The freshman winds up second on Temple's all-time freshman list for every rushing category. His best game of the season came against ECU when he rushed for a career-high 157 yards and a touchdown. This is the second year in a row Temple has had the ECAC Rookie of the Year, last year OL Adam Klein earned the award.
On offense Blue, Fair and Hennessy have added to their season accolades with All-ECAC selections. All three were also named to the All-AAC teams. Hennessy has also been named to numerous All-America teams.
On defense, Roche and Maijeh make up half of the All-ECAC defensive line. They also were named to the All-AAC teams.

The ECAC hosts numerous championships in men's and women's sports across Divisions I, II and III, offering opportunities for thousands of student-athletes.
