Rose Named American and Big 5 Player of the Week

12.2.19 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Fresh off a near triple-double, senior guard Quinton Rose has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and the Philadelphia Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 1.

It is the first American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor for the Rochester, N.Y. native, being named AAC Rookie of the Week four times in 2016-17, and the second time he has been named Big 5 Player of the Week. Rose leads the Owls in scoring (14.6 ppg) and assists (3.6 apg) while ranking third in rebounding (5.4 rpg).

The team co-captain averaged 14 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists and earned All-Tournament honors at the Orlando Invitational.  Rose led the Owls to wins over Texas A&M (Nov. 29) and Davidson (Dec. 1) with the team's lone loss coming at the hands of #5 Maryland.

Against Texas A&M, he posted a game-high 19 points while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing four assists.  It was against Davidson where he truly shined, scoring 14 points while tying his career-high with 11 rebounds and setting a new career mark with nine assists.  He was one assist shy of a triple-double which has only been accomplished once in the program's history (Pepe Sanchez, 10 pts, 10 rebs, 10 asts, vs. La Salle, 1/17/98).

Temple (6-1) will next host Missouri (4-3) on Saturday (7:30 pm/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).
