PHILADELPHIA - Head Temple lacrosse coach Bonnie Rosen announced the team's spring schedule Monday afternoon, with top competition and 12 home games highlighting the schedule.Â
Schedule
The Owls will kick off the 2020 season with six home games, opening the slate with George Washington on Feb. 8 and Rutgers on Feb. 12. Temple defeated the Scarlett Knights last season on the road, earning a 12-10 come from behind victory.Â
A consistently top-10 program, Princeton will make the trip to Broad Street on Feb. 15 for the fourth meeting between the teams in as many years. The Tigers defeated the Owls in New Jersey early last season, eventually earning an NCAA Championship berth and advancing to the quarterfinals.Â
The team will then play the first of three Big 5 games, hosting Saint Joseph's on Feb. 19. Temple will then host Coastal Carolina (Feb. 22) before closing out February against Big 5 opponent La Salle.
Temple will open March on the road at Columbia before returning to Howarth Field to host UMBC (March 7). The Owls will play its final Big 5 contest of the season at Villanova on March 11. The team went 1-2 in Big 5 play last season, defeating La Salle but falling to Saint Joseph's and Villanova.
The team will hit the road for Maryland to face Mount St. Mary's before returning to the City of Brotherly Love for a four-game homestand. Temple will face Delaware and UC Davis to close out non-conference play before opening league play against Vanderbilt. The Commodores finished fourth behind Temple in the 2019 regular season, falling to eventual champion Florida.
The Owls will host UConn in the Huskies' season in the American Athletic Conference before concluding road play at Florida (April 4) and ECU (April 18). Temple will close out the regular season against Cincinnati, hosting the Bearcats on April 25 for senior day.
Temple will look to return to the American Athletic Conference Tournament for the second year in a row, earning the No. 3 seed before falling to No. 2 seed Cincinnati in last year's tournament. Defending regular-season and tournament champion Florida will host the tournament on April 30 and May 2, with the top four teams advancing to post-season play.

"I am really excited for our team to be able to play at home 12 times this spring. The Temple Sports Complex is a great venue to play in as an athlete and to enjoy as a spectator. The schedule was designed to allow us to compete and be challenged against strong competition locally and regionally while also ensuring that we see competition across different conferences. While the bulk of the schedule is non-conference play, we will have a strong focus from the start on preparing us to compete for an American Conference Championship." – Temple head coach Bonnie Rosen
