Lacrosse Falls at #8 Princeton

2.16.19 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA — A huge first half from #8 Princeton (1-0) proved to be too much for the Temple lacrosse team, as the Owls (1-2) fell 16-7 on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Keys to the Game
> Princeton out-shot Temple 22-10 in the first half, en route to a 10-2 lead at the break.
> The Owls held a 12-8 advantage in shots in the second half, but Princeton outscored Temple 6-5 in the frame to seal the win.
> Temple forced 20 Princeton turnovers, but the Tigers held larger advantages in ground balls (20-10) and draw controls (14-11) to account for the final score.

Individual Highlights
> Junior Julia Ryan recorded the first multi-goal game of her career, finishing with a hat trick and a team-high eight shots.
> Junior Maddie Gebert scored twice to take over the team lead in points for the season with eight (7 goals, 1 assist).
> Junior Abby Overman and freshman Gabrielle Kirsch each added scores in the loss.
> Junior Kara Nakrasius finished with a team-best five draw controls, while Kirsch caused three turnovers.
> Junior Maryn Lowell picked up a season-high eight saves in just over 55 minutes of work.

Game Summary
> Princeton scored the first three goals of the game before Gebert found the back of the net on a pass from Lambeth to cut the lead to 3-1.
> The Tigers continued to roll however, pushing their advantage back to four goals, before a Ryan score made it 5-2.
> A three goal deficit was as close as Temple would get in the first half, as Princeton closed the frame with five unanswered scores to lead 10-2 at the break.
> Temple scored first in the second half, but three more Princeton scores pushed their lead to 13-3.
> The Owls out-scored the Tigers 4-3 over the final 18 minutes of action, but the early Princeton lead was too great to overcome.
